On Sunday, January 3, the second in a series of programs designed to give high school students a taste of university life brought almost 200 students to the TTU campus. The high schools represented were Gia Định High School, Nguyễn Thượng Hiền High School, Bùi Thị Xuân High School, Võ Thi Sáu High School, and Lê Thị Hồng Gấm High School.
A busy schedule of activities awaited the students and the teachers who accompanied them. A tour of the dormitory, the dining hall, and the Administration and Classroom Building was followed by a sampling of classes in business, English and study skills. Everyone then met in the auditorium for lively contests among the schools and an informational session about the founding of TTU and plans for academic programs and majors.

The students heard about opportunities for full scholarships and the admissions process. They asked perceptive questions about the criteria for awarding scholarships, including grades and exam scores, and about aspects of campus life.
As a souvenir of the visit to campus, every student was given a copy of the Oxford Learner’s Pocket Thesaurus. Their teachers received Oxford English dictionaries.
On November 14 and December 19, “Experience the University Days” brought nearly 400 students and their teachers from ten high schools to campus. From Ho Chi Minh City came students from Lê Hồng Phong High School for Gifted Students, Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai High School, and the High School for Gifted Students of Ho Chi Minh National University. Representing Long An Province were students from Đức Hòa High School and Long An High School for Gifted Students in Tân An City, Tân An High School, Lê Quý Đôn High School, Hậu Nghĩa High School, and Võ Văn Tần High School. Nguyễn Đình Chiểu High School students came from Bình Dương Province.
Students from other high schools will have their own opportunity to experience university life on January 16, 2011.
