The celebration of the Tet holiday at TTU began with the February 1 visit to the campus by Mr. Truong Tan Sang, senior member of the Politburo and a native of Long An Province.
This was Mr. Sang’s second visit to TTU. In August 2010, he participated in the inauguration of the Administration and Classroom Building and the presentation of awards to Hoa Trang Nguyen Scholars from throughout Vietnam.
TTU’s founder, Mme. Dang Thi Hoang Yen, and the University Rector, Professor Vo Tong Xuan, welcomed Mr. Sang to the campus. Professor Xuan described the visit “as an honor for Tan Tao University, which only received the Prime Minister’s approval for its founding on 25 November 2010.” He said that “Long An province in particular, and Vietnam in general, are very fortunate to have a university founder such as Mme. Yen, who has devoted her wealth to establishing this unique university, with expert assistance from renowned educators in the U.S.A. and Vietnam.”
Professor Xuan added that he has taken on the job of Rector without hesitation because he believes that with high-level expert help and assured financial investment, he will be able to mobilize a staff of the most competent professors and lecturers from the roster of international and national teachers and researchers. “Tan Tao University,” he said, “will train the cream of Vietnam’s high school students to become capable graduates who will work for industrial and other investors in Long An and elsewhere in Vietnam.”
Also participating in the Tet festivities were leading businessmen and women whose firms are located in the Tan Tao Industrial Park as well as the staff of Tan Tao Group and Tan Tao University.
