Associate Professor Bob Baulch was in Washington DC, USA from 28 to 31 May 2012 making presentations on his recently published book, Why Poverty Persists: Poverty Dynamics in Asia and Africa (Edward Elgar). He made presentations at the World Bank on 29 May and the United States Agency for International Development on 31 May, and was the lead speaker at a policy seminar to discuss the book at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) on 30 May. Why Poverty Persists is based on the work of the research theme on poverty dynamics and economic mobility which Professor Baulch led for Chronic Poverty Research Centre between 2006 and 2011. The book was published in hardback in mid-2011, and will be published in paperback in July in the UK, and in September 2012 in the United States."
