From August 24 to 28, 2026, Tan Tao University (TTU) organized the Orientation Week for K26 freshmen, featuring a diverse range of academic orientation, social, experiential, sports, and team-building activities. More than just the first few days for K26 students to become familiar with university life, the week was an opportunity for them to explore TTU, meet new friends, and create their first memorable moments under the Tan Tao roof.
FROM FIRST-DAY UNCERTAINTY TO BECOMING PART OF THE TTU COMMUNITY
The Orientation Week began with activities designed to help K26 freshmen get acquainted with their new university environment. Students met lecturers and classmates, explored the campus and Memorial House, and learned more about the history and development of Tan Tao University. Important information about university regulations, academic matters, and student life was also shared, providing students with essential knowledge to confidently adapt to their new environment.
Among the notable faces welcomed to K26 were Dương Gia Huy – K26 Valedictorian, a former student of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, and Lê Huỳnh Tiến Minh – K26 Salutatorian, a former student of Hung Vuong High School. Both chose to pursue Medicine and officially became members of the K26 community at TTU.
During the program, the University also honored and presented awards to NUON RANUTH and PHEA SOVISAL, two outstanding Cambodian students who achieved Vietnamese Language Proficiency Level 6 Certificates. Their achievement is a proud milestone, reflecting their dedication to learning and determination throughout their journey of mastering the Vietnamese language.
Following the general orientation activities, freshmen continued with faculty visits and activities within their respective faculties. They had the opportunity to explore classrooms, laboratories, and common areas, while meeting Faculty leadership and lecturers. Through these interactions, K26 students gained a clearer understanding of their chosen fields of study and learning environment. The guidance and sharing from lecturers also helped them feel more confident about the university journey ahead.
READY TO LEARN, EXPLORE, AND GROW AT TTU
Right from their first week, K26 students began developing one of the essential skills for university life: English proficiency. Freshmen participated in an English placement test covering all four skills – Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking – assessed by TTU’s international faculty.
Based on the test results, the University can assess each student’s actual proficiency level, place them in appropriate classes, and develop a learning pathway suited to their individual needs. This also marks the beginning of TTU’s two-year commitment to supporting students in strengthening their foundations, developing their language skills, and working toward TOEIC/IELTS goals.
Beyond academic preparation, K26 students also gained practical perspectives on university life through the workshop “Avoiding Common Student Pitfalls – A Roadmap to Personal Growth,” with the participation of Dr. Nguyễn Mai Lâm, President of Tan Tao University. His practical and relatable insights helped freshmen recognize common challenges, adapt proactively, and make informed choices throughout their university journey.
Meanwhile, the CLUB FAIR opened up an exciting space for K26 students to discover student life at TTU. Experience booths, games, and activities hosted by various student clubs provided opportunities to connect with new friends and explore activities that matched their individual interests.
ENERGY IN MOTION: SPORTS, TEAM BUILDING, AND EXPERIENCES
While orientation activities helped K26 students better understand their new environment, experiential and sports activities provided opportunities to break the ice and build connections.
During the Team Building event, freshmen took part in a variety of games and challenges that required coordination, creativity, and teamwork. Laughter, unexpected interactions, and moments of overcoming challenges together helped K26 quickly become more connected as a group.
The excitement continued with Pool Team Challenge, Pickleball, and Golf. Students received guidance on the basics of each sport and had the opportunity to experience new activities firsthand while creating memorable moments with their classmates.
The TTU football field became a major highlight with the Friendship Cup Men’s and Women’s Football Tournament. Exciting matches, impressive teamwork, and enthusiastic support from the sidelines created an unforgettable day filled with sportsmanship and emotion.
More than a competition on the field, Friendship Cup gave new friends the opportunity to play, cheer, and connect with one another. The spirit of sportsmanship, solidarity, and friendship made this tournament truly live up to its name.
CREATING K26’S FIRST MEMORABLE MOMENTS TOGETHER
Another highlight of the Orientation Week was the Cooking Show, a group cooking activity that brought freshmen together through creativity and teamwork. Students worked in groups to develop ideas, divide responsibilities, and prepare dishes that reflected their own creativity.
Through this activity, students not only showcased their creativity and skills but also had more opportunities to collaborate, support one another, and get to know their new friends. The dishes they created became part of the beautiful memories of their first days at TTU.
The week concluded with Campfire Night, one of the most memorable moments for K26. The glowing campfire in the middle of campus, performances by student clubs, spontaneous singing, and a lively musical atmosphere brought the evening to an exciting climax.
The spectacular fireworks display brought the Orientation Week to a memorable close, capturing countless smiles and unforgettable moments from K26’s first days at TTU.
ONE WEEK ENDS – A NEW JOURNEY BEGINS
The five days from August 24 to 28, 2026 brought K26 much more than a series of orientation activities. It was a journey from getting acquainted to building connections, from initial uncertainty to confidence, and from meeting new faces to forming friendships that will accompany them throughout their university years.
From lecture halls and laboratories to sports fields; from workshops and club fairs to the Cooking Show, Friendship Cup, and Campfire Night – each activity contributed to a vibrant and meaningful beginning for K26 freshmen.
The Orientation Week may have come to an end, but the journey at Tan Tao University has only just begun. Ahead of K26 are new lessons, new challenges, new friendships, and countless opportunities to explore themselves, grow, and make their own mark throughout their university years.
