On September 10, 2024, Tan Tao University (TTU) held a commemorative plaque ceremony for the Bodhi tree. The tree was planted on January 24, 2009, by the Founding President, Chairwoman of the University Council, and Provost of Tan Tao University – Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Hoang Yen, a.k.a. Prof. Maya Dangelas, Ed.D. Since then, the Bodhi tree has become a meaningful symbol, representing the spiritual values in TTU’s educational mission.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of leaders from various departments and divisions of the university, along with the entire faculty and staff of Tan Tao University and Tan Tao Talented High School. The event marked an important milestone in the university’s development history and reflected the dedication of the Founding President and the university’s leadership to the cause of education.
This bodhi tree naturally sprouted where the President lived, and she brought it to plant at the university with the wish that the Buddha would bless the university’s development and the bright future of its generations of students. In Eastern culture, the bodhi tree symbolizes wisdom and enlightenment. At Tan Tao University, it has become a significant marker of the university’s journey since its early days.
