“English Speaking Contest – Speak Out”: Marking the journey of personal development

On August 14, 2024, the “English Speaking Contest – Speak Out” took place with great enthusiasm, attracting the active participation of seven competing teams within the framework of the summer course “Ready for University – Tan Tao UniPrep.” This was not merely a competitive contest but also a journey of self-discovery, helping contestants hone their English presentation skills while equipping them with a solid foundation for their future academic and career paths.

In the context of international integration, English language have become an essential requirement for every student. Recognizing this, the “English Speaking Contest – Speak Out” was organized with the aim of developing the presentation and communication skills of the contestants. The competition provides a platform for young participants to compete and learn from one another, thereby growing in their thinking, language abilities, and teamwork skills.

Through the fair evaluation by the judging panel, consisting of Ms. Le Thi My Dung, Ms. Teresa Fone, and Ms. Luong Thi Anh Thu, the results of the competition clearly reflected the efforts and outstanding abilities of the participating teams:

First Prize: Team MALEFICENT with the topic “Social Media” captivated the judges with their creative and insightful presentation, highlighting the impacts of social media in modern life

Joint Second Prize: Team Queen Firefly with the same topic “Social Media” and Team Zenith with the topic “Online Learning” showcased compelling and multifaceted perspectives on the challenges and opportunities that young people face in the digital age

Joint Third Prize: Team Fusion with the topic “Work from Home” and Team NEMO with the topic “Part-time Job” delivered insightful analyses on the trend of remote work and valuable lessons learned from part-time jobs

Joint Consolation Prize: Teams The Stars and Baby Shark were also impressive with their topics “Part-time Job” and “Online Shopping,” demonstrating clear understanding and articulate presentation skills

Looking back on the six-week journey in the summer course “Ready for University – Tan Tao UniPrep,” the remarkable transformation in the students is evident. From the early days of being shy and hesitant, many students quickly overcame their lack of confidence and continuously improved their English skills. Each class was a new step forward, helping them not only enhance their language abilities but also develop logical thinking, critical reasoning, and effective communication skills.

The “Speak Out” competition has affirmed that throughout the 6 weeks of English learning in the summer course “Ready for University – Tan Tao UniPrep,” what the students have learned is not only valuable for the present but will also continue to accompany them on their journey of education and personal development in the future.
