11 candidates selected for the final round of Medical Talent Nurturing Competition

On January 14, 2018, the semi-final of the Medical Talent Nurturing Competition 2017 was held at Tan Tao University Campus in Long An Province with the participation of 51 contestants from high schools in Ho Chi Minh City.

Candidates confidently gave presentations in English before the judges composed of foreign and domestic specialists and physicians.

In the semi-final round, each candidate presented an English presentation in the medical field (15 minutes) and answered the questions from the Jury (5 minutes). The Jury consists of experienced physicians from hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City and specialists from universities.

This competition has been co-organized by Ho Chi Minh City Education Department, Ho Chi Minh City Education Newspaper and Tan Tao University to help 11th and 12th grade students to consolidate and extend the knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, biology and English, facilitate students exchange and nurture a passion for medicine.

Prof. Thach Nguyen, Dean of Tan Tao School of Medicine and Acting Provost of Tan Tao University highly appreciated the presentations of contestants and affirmed the competition will be a great opportunity for them to learn about career possibilities, especially in health care sector. He expects students to  work with advisors to improve knowledge to prepare for the upcoming final round, pursuing their medical career.

According to the Organizing Board, the competition has attracted the participation of 3,000 students from 21 high schools in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Quy Nhon provinces. The total prize value is over VND 160 million together with many scholarships.

From 51 contestants, 11 candidates have been selected to enter the final round to be held in March 2018.
