NGUYEN MAI LAM, Ph.D.
PROVOST
Dr. Nguyen Mai Lam is a visionary educational leader with an extensive career in institutional management. Having served as Vice Provost since January 2022, Dr. Lam officially assumed the role of Provost in November 2025. With a strategic mindset and a commitment to sustainable development, Dr. Lam is currently leading the University’s long-term growth and innovative initiatives.
Academic Background Dr. Lam earned both a Bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in Dialectical and Historical Materialism from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. This profound theoretical foundation serves as the cornerstone for his leadership philosophy and educational governance.
Research & Publications As a dedicated scholar, Dr. Lam has published extensively in prestigious international journals (ISI/Scopus indexed) and leading national academic journals. His primary research interests include:
- The dialectical relationship between economic growth and education/training.
- Trends and motivations of Vietnamese students studying abroad.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) application models in teaching and learning within high school environments.

VICE PROVOST AND DEAN OF SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Thach Nguyen, MD is an interventional cardiologist at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana, USA. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine in the United States and as the Vice Provost and Dean of School of Medicine of the Tan Tao University in Vietnam.
A globally recognized educator, Thach Nguyen, MD holds honorary professorships at Hanoi Medical University and several prestigious institutions in China, including Beijing Chao Yang Hospital, the 301 People’s Liberation Army Hospital, and the Tenth People’s Hospital of Shanghai.
His leadership in the field includes serving as Co-Chair of the International Committee (2016–2018) and on the Board of Trustees (2013–2016) for the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI).
He is the lead author of the Practical Handbook of Advanced Interventional Cardiology (6th Edition, Wiley Blackwell, 2026), a definitive bestseller translated into both Russian and Chinese. Additionally, he serves as an editorial consultant for multiple high-impact journals, including the Journal of Interventional Cardiology and BMC Cardiovascular Disorders.
