From October 14 to 15 2014, when the US faculty again visit and give lecture at TTU, students of School of Medicine once again have chance to experience the methodology of learning medicine in the US.
Besides the formal cardiology lectures on coronary artery disease, heart failure, aortic stenosis, acute myocardial infarction from the visiting faculty, the students are divided in groups and assigned to present in English different topics. The topics which students confidently show are among: Coronary artery disease: Symptoms and signs; How to calculate the pretest probability of coronary artery disease for American and Asian patients coming with chest pain; Symptoms and signs of Heart failure; How to prevent progression of HF from stage B to stage C; Aortic Stenosis: Symptoms and signs of AS; Symptoms and signs of Hypertension; Acute myocardial infarction: Symptoms and signs. Before arriving at TTU, Dr. Thach sent questions to students for them to prepare their presentations. After that, they sent him their presenattions for his correction. These are group presentations so all students have the opportunity to practice the skill of presentation and their English language with the monitoring of foreign faculty …These academic exercises will help students to understand and remember what they are learning.
