MAJOR IN GENERAL MEDICINE

Degree: Doctor of Medicine

Students must complete the following requirements to graduate:

(i) TOEFL score 600 or equivalent

(iii) M2 Requirement: complete 45 credits with the following courses:

  • Human Neuro Anatomy (2 credits)
  • Brain and Behavior (2 credits)

(iv) M3 Requirement: complete 42 credits with the following courses:

  • Health Economics (3 credits)
  • Psychopathology (2 credits)
  • Research Methodology (4 credits)
  • General English (3 credits)

(v) M4 Requirement: complete 48 weeks of clerkship and 9 course credits as follows:

  • Clerkship – Medicine (12 weeks)
  • Clerkship – Surgery (12 weeks)
  • Clerkship – Pediatrics (12 weeks)
  • Clerkship – OBGYN (12 weeks)
  • Medical Research (4 credits)
  • Computer Sciences (5 credits)

(vi) M5 Requirement: complete 36 weeks of sub-internship and clerkship and 14 course credits as follows:

  • Internal Medicine sub-internship (12 weeks)
  • OBGYN sub-internship (12 weeks)
  • Clerkship – Elective (12 weeks)
  • Health Policy Research (4 credits)
  • USMLE Step 2 (4 credits)
  • Computer Sciences (5 credits)

(vii) M6 Requirement: complete 59 course credits and 6 weeks of interview for Specialty and Graduate School as follows:

  • USMLE Step 3 (6 credits)
  • Health/Hospital Management (4 credits)
  • Doctoral Dissertation/ Thesis (20 credits)
  • Interviews for Specialty and Graduate School (6 weeks)

(viii) Graduation Competency Examination: The Graduation Competency Examination consists of two parts scheduled as two separate half-day exams and includes the following portions:

  • Standardized Patient Encounters
  • Procedural Skills

Dates for awarding degrees

TTU medical students who are completing their M6 year should have an understanding of how their degree is awarded and the documents they will need after they graduate. Your degree is awarded by the Tan Tao University. The University only awards degrees on certain dates.

If you will be a summer semester graduate and only have remaining graduation requirements which will be completed before July 1, and your residency program requires a letter of verification, the Office of the Registrar will write a letter, including the TTU seal, stating that you have completed graduation requirements but due to the TTU’s calendar your degree will not be conferred until the end of the summer semester.

Similarly, if you will be a fall graduate and have complete requirements prior to the degree conferment date, and your residency program requires a letter of verification, the Office of the Registrar will write a letter, including the TTU seal, stating that you have completed graduation requirements but due to the TTU’s calendar your degree will not be conferred until the end of the fall semester.
