Broken-heart syndrome, also known as stress-induced cardiomyopathy or Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, can occur when a person experiences severe emotional or physical stress.
This year’s annual meeting of the American Heart Association (AHA 2023) is held from November 11 to 13 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. This study focuses on explaining the mechanism causing chest pain symptoms in patients diagnosed with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.
Broken-heart syndrome, also known as stress-induced cardiomyopathy or Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, can occur when a person experiences severe emotional or physical stress. In this study, the medical faculty’s research team quantified the slowness of coronary blood flow to the myocardium through the index of arterial phase. This study helps clinicians get direction when treating patients, increasing blood flow to the heart muscle to treat chest pain symptoms in patients.
Also in the 2023 AHA Conference program, research from the School of Medicine – Tan Tao University was honored to be selected for the Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award.
