For many years, the concept of liberal education has been no stranger to the academic community. It is a holistic educational approach that not only imparts knowledge but also fosters independent thinking, creativity, and the ability to self-explore. While this model has been widely implemented in universities, it remains relatively new to high school students, yet it holds the potential to open tremendous development opportunities for the younger generation.
On February 10, 2025, Tan Tao University (TTU), in collaboration with Thanh Hoa High School (Long An), organized the program titled “Choose a Happy Career” under the theme “Defining Goals & Building Motivation for Learning.” This event not only helped students understand the value of early career orientation but also introduced them to a multidimensional perspective on liberal thinking through interactive activities and in-depth discussions.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thi Hao Yen, Dean of the School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, highlighted the importance of nurturing independent thinking and living responsibly towards oneself and the community. According to her, liberal education is not merely an academic framework but also a life philosophy that encourages students to learn not just for knowledge but to grow into individuals with compassion and social responsibility.

Duong Hoai An, Head of the Office of PR Communication and Student Recruitment, shared valuable tips on maintaining motivation for learning—not only during high school but throughout university life. He emphasized that while the journey of learning is not always easy, with determination, the right methods, and belief in oneself, students can overcome challenges to achieve their goals.

The insights shared by the speakers helped students reevaluate their learning objectives and opened new opportunities for them. The program inspired them to study not just for career aspirations but for a meaningful life. This reflects the core value of liberal education—teaching individuals how to grow personally and live purposefully, contributing to themselves and society.
